Does Cold sore remides work for this…..? Plz someone let me know?
i have a n out break on the side of my lip also know as a cold sore ( simplex 1) so does the cold sore remiedes like abreva and releev work for a herpes simplex 1 out break?

so, i have it and i have started using abreva, i know it works best if it’s in it’s beginning stages but it’s too late, will it work? how fast, like a week or no? and how does it work? what can i expect, and info is appreciated, and your own experiences with full blown oral herpes and abreva is best, thx
(i can’t go to the doctor until a month because our new insurance doesn’t start till then, so this is the best i can do for now, will it work)
so if abreva works on full blown oral herpes, how does it go away with it (how will i know it’s working, how will it look like?), also how long will it take?

I get about 4 outbreaks a year give or take, and so I always have a tube of abbreva on hand, it will probably take a good week , but what I have noticed is that it keeps them at bay, meaning not getting so big and out of hand that they are a total embarrassment. It still takes a about a week even if you catch it early, but it’s so much better than without it. It is the best OVC for oral herpes though I have tried the all. JUst keep some on hand always so you can catch em early, they can tend to sneak up on you and come out of nowhere which doesn’t give you alot of time to go to the store. Valtrex will work but unless you want to take it everyday it won’t prevent them and who wants to take a pill everyday? lysine is a supplement thats over ther counter that is a vitamin and I take that and its cheaper than valtrex , no need for insurance that also really helps prevent and treat them. For now just rub the abbreva on the sore until it is good and absorbed as many times a day as needed make sure to wash yout hands well and be careful using lip gloss and other items that could cause you to recontaminate yourself, also sun and stress and alcohol tend to bring them on, it should be gome in a week with abbreva, I swear by it and it makes cold sores so much less painful and short lived hope that wasn’t too much info …good luck!

what i mean by full blown is that it’s not just beginning, it’s noticeable and i guess it’s in the later stages??? all i know is that it’s not just beginning, and it says that abreva works best on just beginning oral herpes,

Here are a few different alternatives:
-Herpicin L , good for prevention because some people get cold sores from exposure to the sun. This lip balm is SPF 30 and medicated for cold sore.
-Cold Sore Medicine by Orajel
-Zilactin
Whenever you fill a tingle in your lips that’s a cold sore forming. What causes the tingle I’m not sure, however, this is a good sign a cold sore is about to surface. Now is the time to apply your prevention medicine before the sore forms on the surface. The longer you wait to put the medicine on the worse the sore becomes.
A few things cause the sores; stress, sun damage, and biting fingernails are a few of them. I’m sure a doctor knows other situations that could cause the sore but these are the one that I’ve had cause them. Also I seem to get them after I’ve had dry lips for several days. So using the HerpicinL helps prevent that. Just don’t leave it in your car if you live in Texas during the summer. Then it turns into a tube of soft wax and you are left with a mess!
As for your situation. A few days to a week or so for healing time depending on how regularly you wash the sores and apply fresh medicine. Just keep apply the abreva as often as possible. Apply it like you would apply sunscreen. After the area of the sore as been in contact with anything that might wipe or wash away the medicine reapply. Thats worked for me. Try not the stress about it that only makes it worse.
How good does Abreva really work?
So i have been a chronic herpes simplex 1 sufferer since I was about ten. I get them about 1 to 3 times every three months. It totally sucks. My doctor prescribed me Zovirax the cream… it didn’t work at all. When I was littler I believe I had Valtrex but it sucked too and it’s very expensive. These days I use Campho Phenique which seems to work somewhat but I have not tried Abreva… and it is pricy for a tiny tube. Does it really work as well as I have heard or not? I have a million creams and none of them work… grr.. I mean I have two cold sores right now and I just want something that works!!!!
